Looking for Eau Claire Homes For Sale?
As if you needed any other reasons to slim down your bloated blog and website there might be something else you never considered.
Ok first of all you probably assume that everyone has broadband which is a bad assumption because not everyone does so if your site loads slowly on a fast connection it’s terrible to people on dialup. Now imagine what it does to people accessing your sites from their phones? I can tell you for sure that they will move onto the next site that isn’t chock full of slow loading widgets and images.
Here is some more information:
“ComScore indicates the number of U.S. mobile phone users who use their devices to access news and other information online is now totals more than 63.2 million.”
“Social networking sites and blogs served as the content that increased in viewership the most, racking up an impressive 407 percent increase in daily access.”
While speeds have increased when it comes to mobile phones not everyone has access to 3g networks and until they do you are losing out on a very large share of the internet market.
Do you really need any more reasons to remove all those widgets and large images and backgrounds?

Do I really need to remind you to back up your website?
Yes. Do it right now.
Why?
There are a million ways that everything you ever worked on with your site could completely disappear in about 5 seconds or less. In the past 3 weeks I have read about several major companies having this happen to them. This is no joke. Ever hear of Ma.gnolia? Well they might be completely wiped out according to this story. Even their backup is wiped out! That’s not all either. This has happened to several other sites because of either human error in that they never made backups or their backups failed for whatever reasons. At first I patted myself on the back for making regular backups of my site but then I realized my own catastrophic error. My site backups are stored on the FTP of my site itself. Well all it would take is someone gaining access to my password and there goes my site. I actually woke up out of bed and ran to the computer when I realized this and stored my site locally and then emailed my site to me. But even writing this I have no confidence in my “backup” and how could I? How do I know what data it contains? Scared? You should be especially when you probably don’t know the answers to the following questions:
- Who makes backups of my site?
- When was the last one performed?
- What data did it contain?
- Where is the backup stored?
- How safe is my site security to begin with?
- Is my data redundant?
I am willing to bet you don’t know and if you think this can’t happen to you I am sure Ma.gnolia thought the same thing.

I just read an interesting article about the growth of Google and guess what? It’s growing! DUH! Well what is particularly interesting is that they are eating up 90% of the growth of searches too which means out of the new people using the internet to search for stuff, Google is taking a huge chunk of the potential market share. But guess what? So is my site!
Check out my Eau Claire Real Estate website at Your Chippewa Valley Home.
I have enjoyed a 250% increase in traffic this month alone! Every day I have checked and my rankings are going up and up. Thanks to all the people visiting my site and as always let me know if you think we need to change anything. I designed the site for you, so if you don’t like it just let me know! You can contact me anytime using the comments and suggestions section of Your Chippewa Valley Home.

Google released a warning this morning about websites that are being abused. I don’t think this was necessarily related to the other fiasco this morning where every site was tagged as malicious. But it does seem like a strange coincidence to me. Regardless everyone knows that the internet isn’t necessarily the safest place and the more you put yourself out there, the more you open yourself up for attack. Anyone who owns a website or blog is definitely a prime target. If you think you are safe because you are a small site, think again! The smaller the better because it’s more likely that someone who runs a small site might not even know that an attack is being triggered from their site. There are a variety of ways that they implement these attacks and you should be aware of the potential danger, especially for the safety of your visitors. If this morning’s upset was any indication of the potential damage that can result from your site being labeled as malicious, can you really afford to take any chances? Trust me they are not coming back to your site if they think it’s dangerous.
I highly suggest you read this article by Google on what you can do to protect you and your site.
If you think this can’t happen to your site I know of one agent who is in my city whose site at this very moment is infected with several viruses and for obvious reasons I am not going to link to it. But this is a very real thing and I can’t imagine the impact it would have on your visitors if they thought they could no longer trust your site!
*note* my site is safe and I have extra security in place to ensure that safety.
