Technology: Face it, Embrace it, or Fail
There is no middle ground with technology. There is no waiting around. The earlier you adapt and adopt the quicker the transition is. Do you know what people said about the internet in the early 90’s when it was gaining momentum? How about in the 80’s? Do you know what people still say today about the internet? Do you realize how few agents can actually use the internet as a skill? Yes it is a skill today and if you don’t have it you fail. That’s it. If you are not fully competent with computers and not just adequate you fail. If you haven’t failed you will.
These people are almost out of jobs because they didn’t innovate. They had 20 years to do something
I keep seeing articles written harkening back to old times and how important that phone is. “Pick it up” they say. No one ever said phones aren’t still useful today and no one said Facebook is meant to replace a phone. That’s just misunderstanding how Facebook works and being ignorant of something only furthers the problems. Facebook can do a lot of things a phone can’t and it does a lot of things much better than phones. Haven’t you ever wondered why text messaging is so popular? People don’t like the hassle of phone calls. They want you to express yourself in 140 characters or less. Try using your office phone to call someone at home today. How many people even have a home phone? I don’t. I am not alone.
Fighting technology is a losing battle. The ones that fought so long to embrace the internet still don’t have websites today. They are losing and losing fast. Who is going to sound like the expert when you sit down for a CMA and they know more about something than you? Maybe they will just call the agent who is already doing something new with listings?
