technology There has been a lot of talk lately about Smart Grids and what they can do for us and the planet. Never heard of it? Just click on the link to learn more.
The goal is to reduce the consumption of electricity which is good for everyone and at the same time try to move higher consumption times to off-peak hours which is also good for everyone. That sounds like a tough order and that’s why technology can help and a smarter grid can do it. Your appliances will start talking to the grid and hopefully we can start this whole thing sooner rather than later.

technology There have been a lot of stories lately about where Twitter is headed and with good reason. Many are questioning its very existence in a time when other companies are folding or barely holding on. Why? Well for one thing Twitter has no monetization, that is it doesn’t make any money currently and that certainly seems like a problem for any business let alone one with what might arguably be some substantial overhead.
So what’s the plan?
Well that seems to be the question lately and Twitter has announced that it will try to monetize commercial usage. Wait does that mean little ole me? That’s sort of what I was wondering too. I guess technically I am a commercial business but I don’t know that I will ever make any money from using Twitter. But then someone has to pay for this.
Twitter did make this comment:
“However, it’s important to note that whatever we come up with, Twitter will remain free to use by everyone—individuals, companies, celebrities, etc. What we’re thinking about is adding value in places where we are already seeing traction, not imposing fees on existing services. We are still very early in the idea stage and we don’t have anything to share just yet despite a recent surge in speculation. When we do, we’ll be sure to let you know.”
