Cell Phone Growth is Down??!!
You might wonder why I report on so many diverse issues. I see certain trends and wonder how I should be adapting for my own business model. Some trends directly affect real estate and others affect how I should be doing real estate. Others have nothing at all to do with real estate directly but indirectly I can still see a pattern.
This article points out that in the last quarter of last year, sales in cell phones has slumped.
Whaaaaaaaaat?
I bet most people didn’t see that coming and more to the point, I bet the companies involved didn’t see it coming either. I am sure they noticed when month after month sales plummeted, but why? Well I think the economy is a factor and here’s why. If you bought a cell phone in the last year or so you probably have a rather functional phone. It might not have every bell and whistle that the absolute newest phone has but it still does every task that you need to do. Combine that with the economy and voila, you have the answer.
It’s simple really and just look at computers for instance. Years ago when a new computer model came out or a new processor came out it made your old desktop look like a dust collector. Worse still was the notebook market. Chances are when you bought into one of these the minute you left the store you needed an upgrade. But that’s not the case anymore. Now you can get a really fast desktop or notebook and it will probably be able to handle all of your needs for years to come until it breaks. It’s the same with cell phones. They just do more than they used to and if it’s not broke… what’s that saying?
