3-Dimensional “Virtual Tour” of Homes

I have added the ability to take 3-D “virtual tours” of homes in the Eau Claire and Altoona Wisconsin area. I am proud to say that I am the first and only Real Estate website in our area to have this technology. Last year Google came to the area to photograph and map the entire area. I was actually showing a house the day they drove by so I have been anxiously awaiting the day that Street View came to Eau Claire Wisconsin. You can do some pretty amazing things with this technology.

First of all if you are curious what a house looks like you can see the outside of the home from the street that it is on. I will warn you that people do make updates and this is only meant to be used as an approximation. People update their homes and these pictures are already a year old. My own home is a great example of this because last year I updated the entire exterior of the home and yet the Google map is using an old picture. So please do not try to ascertain the actual condition of any homes from these pictures as the data is outdated.

Another great use for this technology is to be able to see where the house is located on the street such as if it’s on a corner lot or located on a cul-de-sac. You might also use Street View to see if any parks are nearby and what they might look like. Again I urge you to take everything you see with a grain of salt as nothing beats seeing the homes in person but if you are not familiar with the area this might be a good way to “see” the listings.

So how do you use it? When you are looking at Google maps you can press this marker and place it on any location on the map to see the “Street View.” So while you are searching for properties from within the MLS access or wherever you are looking at homes you can press for a map view and then drag the marker.
