Sales of New Homes up!

Despite predictions that new home sales would drop it appears the opposite happened. Combine this with my other recent post that existing home sales are up 5.5% for the largest gain in 5 years! Seems like things arent all doom and gloom after all. While I am not saying things are perfect, it does seem there is room for optimism.

NEW YORK – Stocks fluctuated Monday as investors tried to determine how the government’s efforts to prop up the banking sector and aid the economy might help stave off a protracted global recession.
Investors around the world are nervous that the evaporation in available credit in the past month has hurt lending to the point where it will be difficult to avoid recession. But the U.S. government is implementing some of its measures this week to help the banking sector, including a plan to purchase stakes in banks.
Beyond that, investors were cheered after sales of new homes last showed an unexpected increase in September. While median home prices have dropped to the lowest level in four years, investors appeared pleased that the market was beginning to chip away at an inventory glut. The Commerce Department reported that sales of new single-family homes rose by 2.7 percent in September to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 464,000 homes. Economists had expected sales would drop from August.

Eau Claire Wisconsin Real Estate and Ice Skating

I bet you are wondering what the heck these two things have in common. Well I was sitting here today finishing up a few things for the week like I usually do on Sundays and while flipping through channels somehow ice skating was on. Well before I could hit the remote to find what I was looking for I was listening to the announcer. This is approximately what he said:
You couldn’t find a better time to invest in real estate. It really is the perfect opportunity to make an investment, you just cant go wrong. Speaking of real estate that girl is running out of real estate right now., she nearly hit that wall!
I thought it was funny that on a program like this that they would be mentioning real estate. I don’t know where the guy was getting his investment advice but he really was right on the money. There is no better time to invest in real estate. There is probably no better opportunity for investment either. Real estate can yield a huge return in just a few short years.
