It doesn’t matter if you’re buying or selling in Chippewa Valley or anywhere else in the continental United States, a home with a security system is something to think about.
We talked a little bit about why a home security system included with a home can be a good thing and, today, I thought we’d go a little more into the logistics. Why, financially, it’s a great thing?
Did you know that the average homeowner can pay upward to 500 on their home insurance premiums? For some households it can be even higher than that, if you can imagine that.
That’s why it’s important to check with your home insurance provider because some of them can actually offer you a 20 percent discount on your premiums. That means more money in your pocket and a safer home overall.
Systems also raise the inherent value of your home by making them safer. Statistically speaking, homes with security systems are less likely to get hit, creating a kind of cushion and reputation – letting criminals know not to mess with your home.
Home insurance providers will also look more favorably on a home with a system present. The reason is mostly because with less chance of a break-in, that’s less chance you’ll take out a policy to repair the damage caused by a burglary.
There’s all kinds of information on home security you can find all over the web and it’s especially important when you’re in the housing market.

You’ve heard of things like pools and basketball hoops and even lawn gnomes being included with the purchase of a house, but have you ever heard of someone buying a home with a security system already installed? It happens – even in Chippewa Valley. If you happen to find yourself in a similar situation, you might want to reconsider taking it down.
Most of the time it’s really no problem to have it reactivated under your own name.
If you’re asking yourself why you would ever want to do that, let’s consider the facts:
- Even Chippewa Valley has its fair share of crime.
- It’s a lot cheaper to have a system reactivated and, in many cases, the only thing you’ll have to pay for is the monthly costs. No installation.
- Security systems can help when it comes to your home insurance policy.
- Depending on how optimistic you are about our country’s economic situation, you might not be able to afford not to have your home properly secured.
In the end it’s up to you. Just remember that a home with a security system already installed could be more of a perk than a problem.
